Cottonwood Residential, a Salt Lake City based real estate investment trust (REIT), held their annual leadership conference at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel with the theme “Elevate: Imagine What Happens Next.” Along with top-notch training and networking opportunities, Cottonwood wanted to give its 500+ partners and associates something they could use long after the conference ended: a great new headshot.

The client had noticed that many attendees didn’t have a current, or particularly flattering, photo for their professional social networks and email signatures. And those photos matter. A professional headshot is a calling card for the individual and the company they represent. SugarPop Productions was challenged with creating an AI-powered headshot experience that was professional, creative, efficient and, most importantly, fun.

We created four distinct photo opportunities, all inspired by the conference’s “Elevate” theme:

1. A classic, polished professional headshot featuring a clean, neutral background, perfect for LinkedIn profiles, email signatures, company websites and other professional uses.
2. An option with a bit more visual impact, placing attendees against a dramatic Salt Lake City skyline.
3. A magazine cover featuring the attendees as the headline story, also featuring the city skyline.
4. A photo that truly elevated attendees! Using AI, we transformed them into leadership superheroes, colorfully clad in the company’s logo and signature shades of white, gold and navy. These heroic portraits placed them proudly atop Salt Lake City’s iconic Wasatch Mountain Range at sunset.

Of course, creating four different images for hundreds of people presents a logistical challenge. With more than 500 conference attendees, we needed to make the experience fast, seamless and enjoyable. So we brought in two fully equipped AI photo booths. The client scheduled groups of attendees into designated time windows, allowing everyone to move through the experience efficiently. Each booth captured all three photos in a single visit: one stop, three looks, no waiting!

And because these were digital headshots, there was no waiting around for prints or galleries. Images were delivered instantaneously, with many attendees updating their social profiles and email signatures within minutes! Professional. Creative. Fast. Fun.
